Social Justice Film Series: Chasing Coral

March 18, 2018 - 3:00pm - 5:00pm

Please join the Social Justice Committee and the Wesleyan Sunday class for the first social justice film this year. We will be watching the film “Chasing Coral”. Coral reefs around the world are vanishing at an unprecedented rate. A team of divers, photographers and scientists set out to discover why and to reveal the underwater mystery to the world. No doubt most people have read the occasional news story about the world’s coral reefs disappearing at an alarming rate, but so far this has been the very definition of an “out of sight, out of mind” problem. By all indications, Jeff Orlowski’s “Chasing Coral” could be a game changer in terms of public perception. Like Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” and Louis Psihoyos’ “The Cove” in years past, the film makes a powerful case less through argument than by using cinema’s most basic tool: visual proof.

Join us for popcorn and a movie, and learn how you can be a part of the solution.
